My family benefits from this, as I am a better husband and father
The brothers I sit with support me to live a full, conscious life of integrity. My family benefits from this, as I am a better husband and father. My organization benefits from this, as I am a better mentor and director. My community and the Earth benefit from this, as I am better steward. Sandpoint Men’s Group supports me to live the life of my dreams.
Men Corps men impact a community
This men's group in Sandpoint Idaho has been pivotal to Underground Kindness. Several of these men present their knowledge in the public schools on a regular basis. Giving of not only their life experience but also sharing the value of expressing emotion and connecting to their feelings as a male. In addition, one of these men brought an entire program to our town - Authentic Relating, trained a group of our Compassionists and know we use it on a regular basis! What a gift these men are in our community.
I've been doing 'men's work' as various people define it for over three and a half years with various organizations, and Owen is one of the most authentic, heartfelt, and generous men I've encountered through this work. And his level of insight is commensurate with that of a man who was worked on himself and worked with others passionately for four decades.
Owen has been and continues to be a huge inspiration and support on my own journey to becoming more fully human...and more fully me. I highly recommend working with him if you're lucky enough to have the opportunity to do so.
The most important vehicle sustaining my growth and development
I am proud to have been in a men's group that Owen started for 12 years now. It has been perhaps the most important vehicle sustaining my growth and development, through many life challenges of this past decade. I have a tight knit community of men who have my back and I love.
This was Owen's vision and dream. I love that he is creating this now for other men and other communities around the country and beyond. He sets a high bar for how to hold a quality men's group. He wants deeply for every man to succeed.
Sense of wholeness
We often find ourselves enmeshed in highly specialized tribes which lack a sense of wholeness of the micro-communities (men's groups).
Support through all I have faced
The level of commitment is high as is the fun and energy we share! About 8 months ago my wife and I found out she has breast cancer. This has been particularly frightening for me as I clearly have no control in the outcome. My place in the Men's group has offered me support through all I have faced over the past 7 months - I can see the blessings that have resulted in my marriage -directly related to the work I have done in this group!
Flat out changed my life
Being a part of a ‘micro-community’ with Sandpoint Men’s Group has flat out changed my life- from how I interact has a father, husband, friend, and as an entrepreneur.
What I have found is through the process of working with my micro-community, I have found a deeper calling inside myself.
Strengthen your victories in the face of challenge
The purpose is to develop a group of growth-oriented guys to strengthen your victories in the face of challenge. In the group, you will focus on whatever you want to work on: attaining goals, getting unstuck, growing in ways you have not yet had the courage. Charleston’s Men’s group provides you that place and time. Now, you just need to make time for the men’s group.
No one is doing what they are doing.
Men Corps’ success helping men and creating men’s groups had us support the nonprofit. No one is doing what they are doing. No organization trains men to be successful in their groups or lives like Men Corps.
Army Colonel
From my perspective as a member of the armed forces and one has deployed to several war zones, emotional connection is essential and severely lacking here. I saw the men and soldiers in general, bond while deployed and when they returned, it was gone. There is a tremendous benefit for men to be able to freely communicate to other men in the civilian society. If you are not in the military or have a close network of friends that could generate this opportunity, where can one go?
I see the benefit to every person when men can have brotherhood outside of work and family. Men will be able to communicate and express their feelings and be a stronger partner and father.
Men Corps’ programs are what I would recommend to my fellow soldiers especially when returning from a deployment.
